Those who often drop their phones will take note; smartphones are fragile, and once you crack the phone, little shards of glass will start to fall out. Over time, it feels like your phone is gone right in your hands. Putting a case on your phone should be the first thing you do after you take it out of the box. While some cases sold by retailers are actually electroplated, some are plastic. If your case happens to be plastic or even a more malleable metal like stainless steel, there is opportunity to take advantage of the ability of electroplating to protect your phone, make it look even more attractive, and make it last longer. That’s why an electroplated phone case lasts longer.
Electroplated phone cases will provide excellent durability and protect the most expensive components from damage, corrosion, dents or cracks. A phone case made from smaller materials like plastic or stainless steel will wear out faster and may not protect your phone if you drop it. Electroplating basically deposits a thin layer of solid metal on a substrate, in this case a phone case. Having a harder protective layer on your phone will keep it looking newer for longer while protecting your smartphone. An electroplated phone case will add a layer of metal to a weaker material to make it look like new. The process is done by electrodeposition and uses an electrochemical process to deposit thin layers of new metals.
